She was about 85 years of age.w Adams County Free Press 8 17 1912 Mrs. John Kilgore (Transcriber addition: Atocia Angelina Williams) died last Monday morning at the home of her son, John (Jr), who resides in Union Township, near Cromwell. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 8 o'clock at the family residence, conducted by Rev. Mr. Kirkpatrick. Interment was made in Cromwell Cemetery. Atosy (sp?) Angeline (sp?) Kilgore was born March 27, 1827, in the state of Indiana, and was 85 years, 4 months and 15 days of age at the date of her death. She was married to John Kilgore (Sr.) in the state of her birth in 1855 and soon after came to Iowa to reside. To them were born seven sons and three daughters. They are Taylor, Hubbard, Mary and John, who resides home, Mrs. Sarah Huit, near Creston, Noah of Creston, Albert of Ewing, Nebr. The deceased children are Mrs. Martha Jones, Curtis and Simpson, who died several years ago. The husband died in 1907. Mrs. Kilgore was one of the early pioneers of the county and assisted in the building up of the new country to the present high state of cultivation. From the slow old time ox team she lived to see the swift modes of travel. Mrs. Kilgore could tell many very interesting tales in regard to the early days and of the ways and means of meeting the many diffiulties which beset the pioneers. She was a member of the Baptist church, and was faithful to the teachings of her favorite church. Contributor: Ken Baker
