There she met the love of her life, O. W. “Bill” Smith, Jr. They wed June 27, 1943 in Steamboat Springs. After moving to West Point, Nebraska, they settled in Fremont. Audra was a charter member of the Fremont Lioness Club, a volunteer at the Fremont Area Medical Center, and taught Bible School. She enjoyed exercising, especially Tai Chi, at Fremont's YMCA. She cared deeply for her pets, gardening, her home at Dove’s Cove and traveling around the world with her husband. She delighted in crochet, embroidery and quilting. Audra is survived by her son, Michael & wife, Mitzi Smith of La Vista, Nebraska; daughter, Pamela of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister, Edna Mae Hurley of Texarkana, Texas; three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Rochelle Ann and siblings Jean, Wilma and Richard. Please come and celebrate the life of this gentle soul, Audra. Share your memories during visitation at 10:00 A.M. The Memorial service will be 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Moser Memorial Chapel, Fremont, Nebraska. The Rev. Michael McGregor of First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials may be directed to Nebraska Humane Society, Omaha, Nebraska."
