She was born January 19, 1914, on the family ranch up Libby Creek, the daughter of George and Maude Burnside. She spent her early years at Carlton where she attended schools. For her senior year, she moved to Seattle where she was graduated from Ballard High School in 1932. In 1933, she was married to Lawrence Mills at Carlton. Following their marriage, they resided in the Methow Valley. Mr. Mills preceded her in death in 1973. Mrs. Mills had been seasonally employed with local apple firms for over 30 years. She was a member of the Methow Community Club, the Rebekahs and a charter member of the Methow Grange #1492. Survivors include two sons, Ronald R. Mills of Seattle and Donn Mills of Snohomish; two brothers, Glen Burnside of Wenatchee and Wade Burnside of Grand Coulee; two sisters, Belva Filer and Evelyn Bogan both of Spokane; four grandchildren, Stewart Mills of San Diego, California, Rhonda Mills, Seattle, Michael Mills and Aimee Mills both of Snohomish. Services were conducted Monday, April 26, 1993, at the Methow Evangelical Methodist Church with Pastor Donn Plew officiating. Committal services and interment followed at Methow Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Services were under direction of Barnes Chapel, Brewster.
