Description	:	Audrey Carol Hagood passed away peacefully April 12, 2010 in Fortuna at the age of 88 surrounded by family members. Audrey was a life-long resident of Humboldt County and Carlotta. Audrey is survived by her husband of 69 years, Tom. Audrey graduated from Fortuna High School and had the privilege of playing saxophone for the Fortuna High School Marching Band during the Golden Gate Bridge's grand opening ceremony. Audrey was a life-long resident of Humboldt County and Carlotta. Audrey is survived by her husband of 69 years, Tom. Audrey graduated from Fortuna High School and had the privilege of playing saxophone for the Fortuna High School Marching Band during the Golden Gate Bridge's grand opening ceremony. Audrey later attended Humboldt State College before becoming postmaster of Carlotta and subsequently Hydesville, before retiring in 1979 after 20 plus years of public service. Audrey was active in Postal Service organizations, having attended numerous conventions across the Western United States and Hawaii; she continued to remain active with the retired postmaster's organization until the time of her death. Tom and Audrey were active in the Rebekah Lodge having joined in 1942. Audrey and Tom enjoyed traveling in their recreational vehicle fishing the many trout streams and lakes through-out the West, most notably spending the summer months at Coffee Creek and Ruth Lake in Trinity County with friends and family. Audrey recently discovered the local casinos and enjoyed playing the slot machines. She is survived by her husband, Tom, son Tom Jr. and wife Anita, grandsons, Rick Roberts, Charles Roberts and wife May, Arron Hagood and wife Ramie, Brian Hagood and great-grandchildren: Thomas and Alexis Roberts, Zack and Cooper Hagood. Audrey was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Roberts and brother Kenneth Chase. The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Luke's Care Facility in Fortuna for their loving care in making Audrey's stay comfortable. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM April 16th at Sunrise Cemetery 3315 Newburg Road, Fortuna. A reception will follow at the Campton Heights Baptist Church, 1655 Cecil Avenue, Fortuna. Arrangements are under the direction of Goble's Fortuna Mortuary, Fortuna.
