"Charlotte" Price Schessler, 86, went home to be with her Lord on 17 March, 2017 at the home of her daughter, Sue, battling vascular dementia. Her Daughter's (Sue and Lori) were by her side during her final days. She was born 14 May 1930 in Burlington, Skagit, Washington to Charles Arthur and Alice Roma Price. She graduated from Burlington-Edison High School in 1948. She then went to work for Skagit County Telephone Company as a switchboard operator until she was 5 months along with her second child. 7 March 1952 she married Kenneth Laverne Schessler in Burlington, Skagit, Washington in the Methodist church which was built by her great grandfather Altamont Sherman Rowley. In 1964 - 1968 they moved to Everett for Kenneth's employment. In 1968 they moved back to Mount Vernon to be closer to family. In 1969 - 1974 she worked as a switch board operator at Northern State Hospital until it closed. In 1978 they moved to Winthrop, Okanogan, Washington where they built a 3 story log home and lived there for 24 years. It was a source of great pride and accomplishment to them. She worked at Sears Retail and Catalog Center and also Secretary for Sun Mountain Ranch Club for several years. She was always active in the United Methodist Church wherever she was living, Bow, Winthrop and Sedro-Woolley. She loved helping any way she could. She was a very loving and caring person and her family and friends meant a lot to her. All her children's friends loved her and they all called her "Mom" which she loved. They moved back to Burlington in Dec 2001 to her daughter's home (Sue) while caring for her husband. Upon his death she and her longtime friend (since age 12) Sylvia Hufferd moved in together in Sedro Woolley and loved there for 10 years. She then moved in to her daughters (Sue) home in Burlington in 2011 until her passing. Surviving are her daughter's, Sue Schessler Ramey of Burlington, WA; Lori Schessler of Burlington, WA; Daughter in law Karen Proske Schessler of Chehalis, WA. Also surviving is a sister, Patricia Rose Meyers in Sunnyside, WA and numerous Step grandchildren, Step great grandchildren and Step great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Also her "adoptive" children that called her Mom and Grandma: Denise Dillard, Katrina Dillard Jones, Natalee Jones and A.J. Dillard all of Sedro- Woolley, WA; Suzie Dimma Chrysler of Everett, WA; and Sue Nigg Johnson of Marysville, WA Preceding her in death: her daughter-in-law, Julie Marie Hazelett Schessler in 1990 ; her mother, Alice Roma Price in 1992 ; father, Charles Arthur Price in 1993; sister in law Geraldine V. Schessler Blue in 1994 ; her husband, Kenneth Laverne Schessler in 2002; and her son Michael Wayne Schessler in 2014; her nieces, Teresa Ann Young Cant in 2014 and Debra Rose Young Mitchell in 2016. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of the Northwest, 227 Freeway Dr., Suite A, Mount Vernon, WA 98273. Also there is a www.gofundme.com/help-bury-mom account to help pay for her and Ken's headstone. Memorial service will be 1 April, 2017, Saturday at 1pm at Central United Methodist Church located at 1013 Polte Rd., Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284. Immediately following the memorial service there will be a gathering in the Fellowship Hall. Burial will take place at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery in Burlington at a later date.
