Audrey Fern Foster was born November 18, 1934, in West Branch, the daughter of LaMar and Mary (Thomason) Foster Sr. She graduated from West Branch High School in 1952. She attended Drake University for one year, where she excelled in music. She married Richard L. Rex on October 20, 1957, in West Branch. Audrey worked as a home daycare provider, co-owned Craft’s Galore in Iowa City and worked at the West Branch School daycare, and worked many years at Crestview Care Center. She was the Activities Director from 1973 to 1984, and from 1992 to 2009, she worked in dietary and as an aide. She loved to play the piano and organ for the residents and staff. She was a member of the West Branch United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. She and Dick enjoyed many years traveling to Dick’s parent's resort, White Hill Haven, in Bemidji, Minnesota and to their trailer at Paradise Valley in northeast Iowa. They enjoyed following Iowa Women’s Basketball and were season ticket holders for 20 years. Richard preceded her in death in 2016. She enjoyed following her children and grandchildren's in all their activities. She is survived by two daughters, Tammy McGrew of Rockford, IL, and Tracy (Chuck) Wolfe of North Liberty; two sons, Tim (Madonna) Rex of West Branch and Terry (Kris) Rex of Oelwein; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Jay Turnbull of Des Moines; and one sister-in-law, Jan (Ken) Mather of West Branch. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one granddaughter, Shelby Rex, one sister, Doris Hagen and two brothers, LaMar Foster Jr., and Derrold Foster. Henderson-Baker Funeral Homes
