Description	:	Audrey Jean Leatherberry was born on October 1, 1926 at her family homestead in Strool Township South Dakota to Clint and Myrtle (Eberhart) Leatherberry. She was the middle child between her brother, Ormand and her sister, Arla. Audrey attended rural grade school and high school at the Thrall Academy at Strool, and following its closing, she attended and graduated from Hettinger High School in 1945. Read More	Audrey Jean Leatherberry was born on October 1, 1926 at her family homestead in Strool Township South Dakota to Clint and Myrtle (Eberhart) Leatherberry. She was the middle child between her brother, Ormand and her sister, Arla. Audrey attended rural grade school and high school at the Thrall Academy at Strool, and following its closing, she attended and graduated from Hettinger High School in 1945. On November 12, 1945, she was united in marriage to Bill Lane. They lived in a two room house they had built next to Bill’s parents sod house. They started a family that grew to four children, Tim, Carol, Laurie and Peggy. They eventually built a new house about four miles from the homestead. Audrey was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bison and held many offices. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Women and attended many state meetings. She served on the election board and was instrumental in Bison AlAnon. She loved farm life, enjoyed gardening and took many meals to the field for the hungry workers. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved hearing of all their adventures. The other love she had was for Snickers candy bars; she was never without them and loved to share them. Audrey had a strong quiet faith that sustained her through many trials, the last being failing health. She touched people wherever she went and you never heard her complain. Audrey passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the Five Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon, SD. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie and Richard Fournier, Marlborough, MA and Peggy and Greg Fried, Bison, SD; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, Kimberly Lane and children, Kolbianna and Aiden, Clint (Cally) Sperle and children, Isaiah, Elijah and Mica, Deneal Sperle, Candice (Fournier) Tony Petruzzelli and children, Cameron, Dominic and Devin, Joe Fournier and children, Tyler and Noah, Mike Fournier, Chris (Mary) Fried and children, Noah, Ellie, Simon and Peter, Teresa (Fried) Dan Sherrill and children, Abby and Sam; Scott Fried; and Audrey’s extended family, Dorinda Haugen, Eric Haugen, Diane, Rich and Sherry Fournier and daughter-in-law, Linda Gowen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Lane; son, Tim Lane; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Robert Sperle; one brother and sister-in-law, Ormand and Gloria Letherberry; one sister and brother-in-law, Arla and Jerry Marousek; and her parents, Clint and Myrtle Leatherberry.
