Description	:	Audrey Pauline Lessenger Dunn was the daughter of James Charles and Alda Lee Hutchinson Lessenger. She was born at the home place of Sarah Milleson and John Harrison Lessenger near New London, Iowa, on March 19, 1905, and grew up on the family farm near Lowell, Iowa. Sarah Lessenger assisted the doctor in the delivery. Audrey married George Graham Dunn on June 16, 1929. Audrey went through the merger of the railroad and eventually retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad. Taken from The Lessenger Family History compiled by James E. Lessenger and Waunita Kerr Gibbons in 1988. George studied telegraphy and was working for the railroad in Oakley, Kansas, when he asked Audrey to join him there to be married. Audrey said that she took the train carrying a wedding cake on her lap and $50 in her shoe. She wanted to have money to get home if she arrived and decided she didn't want to go through with the wedding. Told to Gianna Barrow by her grandmother, Audrey Dunn. Audrey Dunn Obituary Audrey Pauline Dunn, 87, of New London, died at 6:20 a.m. Monday, March 8, 1993, at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua. Born March 19, 1905, at Lowell, she was the daughter of James Charles and Alda Hutchinson Lessenger. She married George G. Dunn on June 16, 1929, at Oakley, Kan. He died Feb. 23, 1982. She was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and attended Iowa Wesleyan College. She taught in country schools in Henry County for seven years and worked as a station agent and telegrapher for the former Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad for 27 years. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Henry County Historical Society. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Heater of Keosauqua and Pauline Campbell of London, Ark.; two brothers, Ralph Lessenger of Mount Pleasant and Harold Lessenger of Burlington; a sister, Virginia LaMar of Burlington; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. The funeral for Mrs. Dunn will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Chapel, New London, with the Rev. Donald Wooge officiating. Visitation will follow the funeral. Private committal service will be held Thursday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mount Pleasant. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice. Burlington Hawkeye Gazette, Burlington, Iowa dated March 9, 1993.
