From the Friday, January 26, 1940 TIPTON TIMES newspaper------------> YOUNG TIPTON LADY IS CLAIMED BY DEATH Mrs. Shelby E. Worley Dies at Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia Following Major Operation. Tipton was shocked and saddened on receiving the finformation of the passing of Mrs. Shelby E. Worley, whose death occurred at the Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia, Sunday. Mrs. Worley had undergone a major operation from which she never recovered. Her body was brought to the Jewell E. Richards Funeral Home where it was held until the funeral and where many friends called to pay respects. Funeral services, attended by many persons, were held at the Methodist church with Rev. J. L. Freeman, officiating assisted by Rev. Ray M. Brown. A trio, Mrs. S. R. Ferguson, Mrs. E. N. Pizer and Miss Lillie Jahn sang, "Have Thine Own Way" and "Sometime We'll Understand," and in a duet number, Mrs. Ferguson and Miss Jahn sang, "Sometime, Somewhere." Mrs. W. P. McVean presided at the piano. The interment was in the Odd Fellow's cemetery, the casket being carried by Claude Howar, Aetna Embry, W. P. McVean, Jim Elliott, Virgil Helms, and E. A. Norman. Profuse and beautiful floral offerings bore mute testimony of the esteem in which Mrs. Worley was held. Audrey Pauline Worley was born December 3, 1912 at Versailles and at her passing was 27 years, one month and 18 days of age. She was the youngest daughter of Dr. and Mrs. B. F. Bowline. Audrey was a graduate of Tipton High School class of 1930 and graduated from Bethany Hospital School of Nursing in 1934. She was a member of Tipton Methodist Church and also a member of the Tipton Chapter of the Eastern Star, member of the Star attending the funeral services in a body. Following graduation from nurses training school she did nursing duty at Bethany Hospital, Kansas City, Kans., and Bothwell Hospital, Sedalia, Mo. and for the past three years she had been on duty at the Latham Hospital in California. She was married to Shelby E. Worley, July 3, 1939. Surviving, besides the husband and father and mother are the following brothers and sister; Okal Bowline, Topeka, Kans., Mrs. D. W. Finlay, Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. John Zulauf, Milwaukee, Wis., and Philip Bowline, Kansas City, Mo. One sister, Gladys, proceded her in death. Audrey was a loving wife, and obedient daughter and efficient in her profession of nursing. Always a cheerful disposition, she saw life's sunny side and she reflected cheerfulness with all with whom she came into contact. The sudden passing of Audrey brings intense sorrow to the husband, parents, the brother and sisters, and legions of friends everywhere.
