Description	:	August came to Sheyenne at the age of 17 with his sister Frida in 1906. He joined his older brothers, Axel Hagge and Carl Hagge who had immigrated several years before. August worked on the railroad and in the lumber mills. He met and married Effie Koopman in a hospital where she was a nurse and he was a patient, having been injured while working on the railroad. They married on 23 Aug 1922 and they started married life in Sheyenne. He worked as a carpenter, cream station manager and a lunch room café. ... They married on 23 Aug 1922 and they started married life in Sheyenne. He worked as a carpenter, cream station manager and a lunch room café. He was stricken with cancer and died in September of 1938. His children included Junita, Gerald, Richard and LeRoy. In 1951 Effie had a stroke and spent the remainder of her life in a rest home in Fargo, ND. She died in 1956.
