Description	:	August Blankenhagen was born in Wisconsin January 5, 1855 and died in Iola, Kansas, July 16, 1927, at the age of 72 years, 6 months and 10 days. He lived several years in Howard County, Iowa, where he was married to Flora Reep in 1879. He later sold his farm in Iowa, in Howard county, and moved on a farm in Chickasaw County, Iowa. Read More	August Blankenhagen was born in Wisconsin January 5, 1855 and died in Iola, Kansas, July 16, 1927, at the age of 72 years, 6 months and 10 days. He lived several years in Howard County, Iowa, where he was married to Flora Reep in 1879. He later sold his farm in Iowa, in Howard county, and moved on a farm in Chickasaw County, Iowa. Six years later he moved to Deerfield, Iowa, and lived there two years. He returned to Chickasaw county and lived there five years. Then he moved to Kansas and bought a farm five miles from Yates Center. He lived on a farm seven miles north of Yates Center five years, then he came to Iola, Kansas living here fourteen years. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran church. He is the father of eight children, seven of whom survive. They are: Louis, Lily, Fred, Mary, Ed, Gertrude and Ruth. There are seventeen grandchildren. Services were held Monday afternoon, July 18, at 2 o'clock in the Christian church, the pastor, the Rev. J. B. Reynolds, officiating. Music was by Dorothy Giffin, Mrs. Ralph Cobleritz and Celeste Griffith. The songs were: "Asleep in Jesus" "In the Garden" and "Rock of Ages." The pall bearers were: J.A. Fryer, J.W. Benedick, A.R. Stroupe, H.M. Riggs, George Hackler and B.D. Smith. Interment was in Highland cemetery. Iola Register July 19, 1927
