Description	:	August Bendixen, 91 August Carl (Gus) Bendixen, 91, of Terril died Aug. 17, 2000, at the Milford Nursing Center in Milford. Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug. 21, at the United Methodist Church in Terril with the Rev. Lanny Carlson officiating. Visitation was Aug. 20 at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville, with burial being at Fairview Cemetery in Terril. Mr. Bendixen was born on Aug. 23, 1908, to Mettinus and Katrina Moller Bendixen in Emmet County. He grew up on a farm northeast of Terril and received his education in Terril schools. He was employed on a threshing crew and also worked as a farmhand. Mr. Bendixen was united in marriage to Edna May Winter on June 29, 1903, in Estherville. He then worked for the M. & St. L. Railroad on a section crew and on the weedburner for several years. He later worked as a mechanic for the John Deere dealership in Terril. Gus and Edna enjoyed camping, traveling and wintering in Texas. He had his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying to flight breakfasts. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering with mechanical items and woodworking. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Terril. Gus was preceded in death by his wife, Edna; an infant daughter; a grandson, Rodney Rouse; his parents; three sisters; and four brothers. He is survived by three daughters, Pauline Hodge and husband, Frank of Milford, Patricia Ellis and husband, Duane of Spirit Lake and Linda Johnson of Rosenburg, Texas; one brother, Howard Bendixen of Estherville; one sister, Pearl Wilcox of Spencer; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
