Strecker, the son of John Jacob and Katherine (Karst) Strecker, was born at the family farm home in south Russell County on September 6, 1889. His death occurred at the Homestead Villa Nursing Home in Hoisington, KS, on Sunday, Dec. 20, 1970. His age was 81 years, 3 months and 14 days. Strecker, the son of John Jacob and Katherine (Karst) Strecker, was born at the family farm home in south Russell County on September 6, 1889. His death occurred at the Homestead Villa Nursing Home in Hoisington, KS, on Sunday, Dec. 20, 1970. His age was 81 years, 3 months and 14 days. A lifetime resident of the Russell communicty, he received his education and training in the rural and church schools in the Milberger area, and was one of the first class members to be confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran (Missouri Synod) Church at Milberger. On May 31, 1908, he was united in marriage to the former Amelia Michaelis and they established their home on a farm east of Milberger. There were 5 children born to this union, 2 of whom preceded the parents in death. A son, Roy, died in infancy and a daughter, Alvina, died in 1953. On Dec. 3, 1938, his wife and helpmate of 30 years passed away to her heavenly home and in 1940 he retired from farming and he and his daughter established their home at 337 West First St. in Russell. Here he engaged in yard work and was custodian at the Trinity United Methodist Church until failing health forrced his retirement from all active work. Friendly, tolerant, and sincere in his home, church, civic and social contacts, he made many friends and was an esteemed and respected father, brother, uncle, and grandparent. To cherish his memory are the 3 children: Armin and Clarence of Russell, Mrs. Lewis (Fern) Frey, Great Bend; 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Ferdinand, of Russell; 2 sisters, Mrs. Ida Ehrlich, Russell, and Mrs. John Morgenstern, Galatia, KS. Preceding him in death also were his parents, one brother, J.J. Strecker; 5 sisters, Amelia Becker, Lydia Deines, Mollie Michaelis, Agnes Stettinger, and Pauline Nuss. Memorial Service conducted from St. John Lutheran Church, Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1970 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Earnest Pihl officiating; Organist: Mrs. Howard Vladar; Quartette: Bernhardt Deines, Ferd Niedenthal, J.E. Morgenstern, and Clinton Seifert.
