She died in childbirth on Feb. 11, 1897 in Harrison Twp., Paulding County, Ohio, per death records. (Jan. 11, 1897 per tombstone). August then married Sophia Schmunk on Oct. 14, 1898 in Defiance County, Ohio. She died Jan. 29, 1915 in Defiance County, Ohio. He then married his third wife, Pauline Martin Tolbolt on July 29, 1919 in Lucas County, Ohio. 7/23/1948 Obituary AUGUST KALK, PIONEER, TO BE BURIED IN OHIO "August Kalk, 89, a pioneer of Rib Lake, who died Monday afternoon at 4:00 at the home of his niece, Mrs. John Stelling, will be buried in the State of Ohio this week, the body having left Tuesday evening. Mr. Kalk had been sick a number of years. Deceased was born in Germany on August 9, 1859, and came to this country in 1882, locating in Ohio. The following year he came to Rib Lake and resided on a farm east of the village and was employed in the sawmill. He returned to Ohio and spent a number of years, returning here in 1926, and made his home with his niece until the time of his death. His wife having preceded him in death, he leaves three daughters, Mrs. John Vincent, and Mrs. Ernest Hohenbergen of Defiance, Ohio; and Mrs. Charles Matzin of Reading, Michigan."
