Description	:	August Rotter died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Wachter, at Beaver Crossing, Neb., Sunday, July 30, 1939, aged 72 years, 11 months and 15 days. The funeral service was held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Geneva and was conducted by Father James Gilroy. The sermon was given by Father John O'Sullivan of Beaver Crossing. Interment was in the Geneva Catholic Cemetery. The deceased is survived by seven children, Joseph of Geneva, Anna , Mrs. Edward Wachter of Stockham; Mary, Mrs. George Wachter of Beaver Crossing; Minnie, Mrs. Fred Stander of Kimball; Miss Hattie Rotter of Geneva; Miss Emma Rotter of Denver, Col.; and Albert Rotter of Beaver Crossing; eleven grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest of Omaha and Ben of Deadwood, S.D. All of the children were present at the funeral. August Rotter was born in German in 1866. He came to America with his parents at the age of fourteen. The family settled at Nebraska City. After the death of the father about five years later, the family moved to Fillmore County. Mr. Rotter farmed near Grafton many years, moving to Geneva in 1927 when he retired from farm duties. The past two years he made frequent visits to his children at Beaver Crossing and he had been there on a visit when the end came. Mr. Rotter's wife preceded him in death over two years ago.
