Description	:	Funeral services for August Vakiner, who died last Saturday at a Sioux Falls Hospital, at the age of 75, were hold Wednesday at the St. John Lutheran Church with the Rev. W.R. Hamilton officiating. Burial was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Survivors include his widow, two sons, Leonard and Richard, both of Gregory; two daughters, Dorothy of Gregory, and Mrs. Joe Krieger, Burton, Neb.; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren; three brothers, John of Norfolk, Nebr., Bill Dodge, Nebr, and Ed of Fremont, Nebr; and two sisters, Clara of Lincoln, Nebr., and Amanda Muench of Snyder, Nebr. August Vakiner was born July 28, 1878 to Hartman and Anna Vakiner In Dodge County, Neb. He attended public school in Dodge County where he was also baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Dodge. After his early years he moved to Snyder, Nebr. where he grew to manhood and farmed for several years. In 1904, at the opening of the Rosebud, he homesteaded a claim 14 miles south and one mile west of Gregory. Oct. 23, 1907 he was united in marriage to Minnie Sanderson.
