August 23, 1951 - The Democrat - Mrs Augusta Wedoo, 89, former Emmetsburg resident, died in her home in Clear Lake Wednesday afternoon after an illness of two years. Death was caused by a heart condition and complications. Mrs. Wedoo had been confined to her bed for two years. Funeral services were held at the Zion Lutheran church in Clear Lake at 11 o'clock Saturday morning with the Rev. Douglas Jacobson, substitute pastor, officiating. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery here beside her husband, who died in Colorado nearly 20 years ago and a daughter, Sylvia Mildred, who died at the age of seven. Mrs. Wedoo was also preceded in death by two sons. Augusta Nietert was born Feb. 11, 1862 at Elkport, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nietert. She married William Wedoo March 21, 1881. The couple lived at Granavillo for several years and then resided in Postville for three years. From Postville they moved to Emmetsburg, living on a farm in Great Oak township for many years. Their three youngest children were born here. Mrs. Wedoo moved to Clear Lake 30 years ago. She had been in failing health for several years and was cared for in her final illness by her daughter, Amanda. As a middle aged woman she did practical nursing. Survivors include four daughters and a son: LuGrace and May Wedoo operate a cleaning and tayloring shop in Garner; Mrs. Carl (Evelyn) Lassahn, Clear Lake; Alvin R. Wedoo, Glendale, Cal.; and Amanda Wedoo. She also leaves six granddaughters, three grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews. Alvin, a trucker, was on a long trip at the time of his mothers death and did not recieve word of her passing in time to be enable him to attend the final rites.
