Description	:	Mrs. Herman Block, nee Muenchow, was born Dec. 28, 1853 at Uchtenhagen, Pomerania, Germany and passed away Nov. 30, 1934 at the Seward hospital, where she had been in treatment since Oct. 16 for a broken hip. Her age was 80 years, 11 months and 2 days. Mrs. Block had been a resident of Seward county for 52 years, but the great part of this she was more or less an invalid. Read More	Mrs. Herman Block, nee Muenchow, was born Dec. 28, 1853 at Uchtenhagen, Pomerania, Germany and passed away Nov. 30, 1934 at the Seward hospital, where she had been in treatment since Oct. 16 for a broken hip. Her age was 80 years, 11 months and 2 days. Mrs. Block had been a resident of Seward county for 52 years, but the great part of this she was more or less an invalid. Often she was seriously ill so that little hope was held out for her recovery and for more than a year she was almost blind. But in her ailments she sought not only the physicians but also the Lord, her Savior, in whose name she was baptized in infancy, whom she learned to know in confirmation classes and whom she confessed as a church member. Mrs. Block was one of the oldest members of the Ladies Aid and though in the last years she could not take active part in the work of the society she was held in love and esteem as an honorary member. In October 1931 Mr. and Mrs. Block celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. She leaves to mourn her loss the husband, one daughter, now Mrs. William Lehr, Utica, Nebr., one son, Mr. Emil Block, Seward, one son-in-law, one daughter-in-law, nine grandchildren, one brother-in-law, Mr. William Block, Utica, one sister-in-law, Mrs. Paschke, Pleasant Dale, and other relatives. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the home and church conducted by Rev. A. Merz and interment was made in Immanuel Lutheran cemetery, Chain & Wood in charge. Pallbearers were four grandsons of the deceased: John Lehr, Art Lehr, Wm. Lehr, Jr., Paul Block and two husbands of granddaughters, Clyde Walker and Carl Scherer.
