Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer 5 Dec 1878 p3: "A Winn, correspondent of the Whig writes: The school at Winn Village, taught by Mr. A. W. Gilman of Foxcroft, closed a very successful session of twelve weeks last Wednesday, the scholars making a very creditable appearance at the public examination.
