Interment will be made in the Gregory I.O.O.F. cemetery. Miss Fenega was born in Holland, April 5, 1874, and in 1881 came with her parents to America. She retired from missionary work five years ago, and for the past two years made her home with her sister, Mrs. Annetta Faul in Gregory. Since returning to South Dakota she gave numerous talks before church groups, civic organizations and teachers’ institutes on the customs and traditions of the peoples of Turkey and Syria, showing the costumes worn by the women of these countries. At the time of her death she had a full speaking schedule for the coming months. She is survived by four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Lucy Schemmer of South Sioux City, Nebraska; Mrs. Albert Burgi of Yankton, S.D.; Gerret Fenega of Corsica, S.D.; and Teen Fenenga of Iona, S.D.” Argus - Leader - Sioux City, Minnehaha County, South Dakota - April 8, 1949: “FUNERAL HELD FOR MISSIONARY. Gregory Woman Spent 40 Years in Turkey, Syria for Church. Gregory, S.D., Apr. 8---Funeral services were held today at the Gregory Congregational church for Agnes Fenenga, who died Monday. Miss Fenenga was born in Holland, April 5, 1874, and in 1881 came with her parents to America. In 1883 the family settled in Douglas county and in 1893 in Lyman county, south of the White River. She was a graduate of Yankton college and spent 40 years as a missionary of the Congregational church, 30 of which were spent in Turkey and 10 in Syria. She retired from missionary work five years ago, and for the last two years made her home with her sister, Mrs. Annetta Faul in Gregory. Since returning to South Dakota, she gave numerous talks before church groups, civic organizations and teachers’ institutes on the customs and traditions of the peoples of Turkey and Syria.”
