Aulga Koloen was born March 12, 1909 on the farm near West Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Jessie, ND, the sixth child of Annie (Laatvedt and Syver Koloen. Olson Additional information provided by Greg Danforth Aulga King, 97, Fargo, ND, died Monday, November 20, 2006 in Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND. Aulga Koloen was born March 12, 1909 on the farm near West Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Jessie, ND, the sixth child of Annie (Laatvedt and Syver Koloen. She was baptized in West Prairie Church on April 9, 1909 and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Binford, ND. On July 9, 1928, she married Mark King of Binford. After their wedding in Fergus Falls, MN, they made their home in Binford until 1942 when the couple moved to Harvey, ND. Aulga and Mark enjoyed many happy years in Harvey and made many lifelong friends. Mark was transferred to Fargo, ND in 1958 and Aulga began working in the children's department of the J. C. Penny Company. Many satisfied customers relied on her expertise and assistance. She was a fixture in the store until her retirement in 1974. Mark preceded her in death July 7, 1960. Aulga was an active member of Eastern Star and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and as an election judge at the Fargo HI-Rise where she resided for many years. She became a resident of Bethany Towers II in 2001 and Bethany Nursing Home in 2004. Although Aulga and Mark had no children, their nieces and nephews were very close to her heart. She took a personal interest in each of them and their families and reciprocated with their cards, letters and visits. Aulga is survived by her sister, Helen Bakken, Binford, ND; one sister-in-law, Doris Muir Koloen, Oklahoma City, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday November 25, 2006 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Binford, ND. Visitation was held Friday, November 24, 2006 in Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services in the Church. Interment will be in Binford Cemetery, Binford, ND.
