Description	:	AURELIUS E. BAKER Aurelius E. Baker was born in Osborne county, Ohio, February 25th, 1828. He moved with his parents when a boy to Pike county, Ill., where on October 3, 1850, he was married to Mary Jane Stitt, and shortly after their marriage they moved to Grundy Co., Ill. To this union were born seven children, two of whom were called home in infancy. James A. Baker, Margaret Avery, Nina Fuller, Esta Congdon, and Esla Baker are left to mourn the loss of a kind, thoughtful and devoted father. He moved with his parents when a boy to Pike county, Ill., where on October 3, 1850, he was married to Mary Jane Stitt, and shortly after their marriage they moved to Grundy Co., Ill. To this union were born seven children, two of whom were called home in infancy. James A. Baker, Margaret Avery, Nina Fuller, Esta Congdon, and Esla Baker are left to mourn the loss of a kind, thoughtful and devoted father. Mr. Baker answered Lincoln's call for volunteers and enlisted in Company D. 125th Illinois Volunteers in August, 1862, and rendered faithful patriotic service in defense of freedom until the close of the war when he received an honorable discharge. Mr. and Mrs. Baker came to Nebraska bringing their family of small children in May, 1868, and took a homestead in Upper West Branch, 12 miles south-west of Pawnee City, and were among the very earliest settlers in Pawnee county. In 1890 they moved to Pawnee City where they made their home until November 1907, when Mother Baker was called to her reward, after which the family home was broken up and Father Baker has since made his home with C. H. Fuller and family. For the past year he had enjoyed comparatively good health but was stricken down with paralysis Sunday morning, February 7th, from which he never regain3ed consciousness and passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 9th, age 80 years, 11 months and 14 days.
