| Description | : | Austin Farris was born in 1824 in Franklin County, Illinois, the son of Jeremiah Farris and Rosanna Estes. The family moved to Fulton County, Illinois in 1828 - and on March 16, 1849, Austin married Elizabeth Ann Foutch there. In 1851 they moved to Bremer County, Iowa where in 1853 Austin was elected the first Sheriff of Bremer County and his father, Jeremiah, the first County Judge.
