Description	:	Avery Fox, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 26th, 2020 four days before his 95th birthday. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late John Richmond and Nancy Elizabeth "Lizzy" Fox. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Ann Fox, who passed away in 2002; siblings: Ora, Rothie, Carrie, Luther, Joyce, Vernon and Jean and a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Fox. Avery was in the US Navy as a Seaman First Class on the USS McCoy Reynolds in the Pacific Theatre during WWII from May 1944 until November 1945... A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late John Richmond and Nancy Elizabeth "Lizzy" Fox. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Ann Fox, who passed away in 2002; siblings: Ora, Rothie, Carrie, Luther, Joyce, Vernon and Jean and a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Fox. Avery was in the US Navy as a Seaman First Class on the USS McCoy Reynolds in the Pacific Theatre during WWII from May 1944 until November 1945 . He was a member of Plum Branch Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years. Avery was a barber in Micaville for 50 years and a Yancey County School employee for 9 years at Micaville Elementary. He was a kind Christian man, an amazing husband, father, papaw and great, great-papaw as well as a friend to many. He loved everyone. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him. Left to cherish his memories is his daughter, Diane Hilliard and husband, John, of Plum Branch; sons: Ronnie Fox of Wimauma, FL and Donald Fox and wife, Brenda, of Asheville; grandchildren: Lance Fox (Misty) of Wimauma, FL, Anna Kirkman (Ron) of Burnsville, Angie Tipton (Aaron) of Burnsville; Cynthia Eckert (Ricky) of Florida, Casey Fox of South Carolina, Corey Fox (Katie) of Asheville, Christy Kachline of Arizona, Alana Lowery (Wayne) of Burnsville and John Ray Hilliard (Sally) of Burnsville; 22 great-grandchildren and 4 great, great-grandchildren and one on the way. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A private memorial service will be held at a later date in the Boone Cemetery on Plum Branch with Military Honors. Source Citation: Yancey Funeral Service
