Description	:	EVANSDALE -- Avice L. Potter, 89, of Evansdale, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo. She was born March 5, 1926, in rural Strawberry Point, daughter of Richard M. and Zelda A. Lickiss Rowell. She married George Edward Potter on Oct. 18, 1945, in Independence; he died Nov. 15, 1998. Avice graduated from high school in 1943, and worked as a bank teller at American National Bank, Arlington. Read More	EVANSDALE -- Avice L. Potter, 89, of Evansdale, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo. She was born March 5, 1926, in rural Strawberry Point, daughter of Richard M. and Zelda A. Lickiss Rowell. She married George Edward Potter on Oct. 18, 1945, in Independence; he died Nov. 15, 1998. Avice graduated from high school in 1943, and worked as a bank teller at American National Bank, Arlington. After moving to Waterloo in 1950, she worked at the Cedar Falls Trust & Savings until 1965; served as bookkeeper for Alumaline Cutlery from 1960 to 1971, and then assisted George at their knife factory, GAPCO, until it sold in 1985. She then became a travel agent at Humble Travel in 1985 and in 1989 moved to Travel Store until she became ill in 2000. From 1985 to 2000 she escorted travel groups to places around the world. She was a member of Grace Reformed Church, Waterloo, Survived by: three daughters, Georgia (Thomas) Stoeber of Cedar Rapids, Nancy (Ricky) Macomber of Evansdale and Phyllis (Daniel) Smith of Washburn; a son, Randall (Joanna) of Fort Dodge; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sharon Burke of Waterloo. Preceded in death by: her parents; a son, Bruce Edward; a sister, Alberta Norman; and three brothers Marlin, Merwin and Robert Rowell. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Grace Reformed Church, Waterloo, with burial in Taylorsville Cemetery, Arlington. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Sept. 4, and an hour before services, all at the church. White Funeral Home, Jesup, is in charge of arrangements.
