Burns, sisters: Lena White, Dellie Carlock and Mae Roberts. Survived by: Three Daughters; Son of Waxahatchie, Tx; Two Daughter-in-laws; 25 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren, Sister of Calcasieu Community, La. Avis was a loving mother to six wonderful children. She instilled her religious beliefs in her children, grandchildren and everyone who... Avis was a loving mother to six wonderful children. She instilled her religious beliefs in her children, grandchildren and everyone who came in contact with her. She was a long time member of Flactor Baptist Church and retired from the Civil Service Department of Fort Polk. Avis will be missed by many and her memories will be cherished forever. The family would like to say a special thank you to Jeff Johnson and the staff at The Woodlands Nursing Facility, and Harbor Hospice especially Tracie and Sharane. Services were Monday, May 21, 2012 at Flactor Baptist Church in Hicks, LA., Bro. Haymon officiated. Burial followed in Flactor Cemetery in Hicks. Services were under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville, LA.
