Description	:	Funeral services for Mrs Norman Spillett were held Tuesday afternoon from the home. An unusual large circle of friends mourn the death of this fine woman. She died at 5:45 a.m. Sunday. Many friends attended the services conducted by the Rev E W Holler. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery. Avis made friends wherever she went because of her vivacious and interesting personality and because of her unfailing kindness to anyone in trouble and her loyalty to her friends. Read More	Funeral services for Mrs Norman Spillett were held Tuesday afternoon from the home. An unusual large circle of friends mourn the death of this fine woman. She died at 5:45 a.m. Sunday. Many friends attended the services conducted by the Rev E W Holler. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery. Avis made friends wherever she went because of her vivacious and interesting personality and because of her unfailing kindness to anyone in trouble and her loyalty to her friends. Less than a year ago she under went an operation and her condition was found to be serious. Since then she has been an invalid and has been given the best care that medical skill could command but her condition continued to grow worse. Her death has cast a gloom upon the entire community because she had friends of all ages and in every walk of life. For a number of years Avis was associated with the business life of Brooklyn. She attended the schools here, graduating from high school and both then and until a few months before her death took an active part in every phase of the community life. Avis Douglas Judd was the daughter of Douglas Eli and Alice Elizabeth Bubach Judd. She was born in Madison Township, Poweshiek County, Iowa. She was married to Norman Spillett on December 22, 1927. For several years lived in Toledo, Ohio. The illness of her mother called her back to Brooklyn about four years ago. After her mother's death she and Mr Spillett continued to reside in Brooklyn at the home of her father, D E Judd, where her husband and father will continue to make their home. Avis was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Columbian Club, the OAU Club, the DAR's and of Chapter AR, PEO. She leaves her husband and her father besides a host of friends who will miss her greatly. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were; Mrs J J Spillett and Mrs Eunice Sutherland of Fort Williams, Ontario, Canada: Mrs Selby Smith and Dan Grant of Princeton, Illinois; R O Hall of Ashland, Wisconsin; Albert Hall of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Mrs Martha Godbey of Mt Pleasant, Iowa. CARD OF THANKS We are grateful for the numberless courtesies and kindnesses shown to us by our friends and neighbors during the recent illness of Mrs Spillett and for the many floral tributes and expressions of sympathy received since her death.
