Description	:	Avis Rupp, 94, of Cherokee, Iowa, died Saturday, October 28, 2006, at the Cherokee Villa following a brief illness. Avis was born December 3, 1911, in Cherokee, Iowa, to Henry and Grace (O'Neill) Peck. Burial was in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cherokee, Iowa. Services were held Thursday November 2, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee. Father Armand Bertrand and Father Gene Sitzmann officiated. They farmed for a number of years and later moved to Cherokee where they owned and managed the Hillside Apartments. Norbert and Avis enjoyed their winters in Phoenix, Arizona, and spending their summers at their lake home on East and later, West Lake Okoboji. Avis was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed fishing, golfing, and playing cards. Survivors include sisters-in-law; Mabel Peck, of Cherokee, Iowa; Hazel Rupp, of Marcus, Iowa; Sr. Christina Rupp OSM and Sr. Catherine Rupp OSM, both of Omaha, Nebraska; brothers-in-law, Randy Sawyers, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Ralph Rupp, and his wife, Herta, of Cherokee, Iowa; Floyd Rupp, of Sioux City, Iowa; nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Norbert, 1983), brothers, Alfred, Harry, Francis, Lester, and Ron Peck; sisters, Edith Matzen, Alice Olsen, Evelyn Groh.
