Oleson, 83, died Friday afternoon, March 21, 1995, In Elkader Care Center after a long illness. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Monday, First Congregational Church, by the Rev. Bob Williams. Burial: East Side Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are with Leonard-Witt Funeral Home, Elkader. Survivors include two daughters, Peggy and husband Phillip Ehm of Bella Vista, Ark., and Ann and husband C.V. Boultinghouse of Dubuque; a son, George and wife Sandra Oleson of Des Moines; three stepdaughters, Judy and husband Jerry Moyna of Elkader, Lois and husband Jan Wood of Garnavillo and Kathy and husband Tim Dillon of Elkader; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. Born Aug. 24, 1911, In Earl, Wis., to George and Hattie Thompson Oleson, he spent his early years in the Earl and Spooner, Wis., area. He received his education in Washburn County, Wis., schools and later attended Superior State Teachers College. Avron married Avonelle C. Hosklns on June 18, 1933, and three children were born to this union. He taught In Washburn County elementary schools for seven years before moving in 1936 to Elkader, where he purchased and operated a variety store now known as Ben Franklin. He later became an agent for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. Avonelle died April 13, 1971. Later that year Avron married Marinette Bink. After retirement, Avron and Marinette gave considerable time working with programs for the aged. They served on the Advisory Board of Area I Agency on Aging, Older Iowans Legislature, Governor's Conference and, for a time, were lay advocates In this area. Marinette died Aug. 11, 1987. He married (1) Avonelle Carrie Hoskins 18 Jun 1933 in Earl, Washburn, Wisconsin. He married (2) Marinette June Emilie Elsabea Oelke 30 Nov 1972 in Clayton Center, Clayton, Iowa.
