At the age of 7 years he came with his parents of Cedar county, IA, where he resided until 1884 when he moved to Keyapat county, NE where he resided until 1889, when he returned to Cedar county, IA and made his home with his sister, Mrs Mary Whitmer, at whose home he passed away August 26, 1920. September 1, 1920 - Muscatine Journal And News Tribune - Wilton, Ia - Ayres Garber was born in Vanago county, PA Oct 10, 1846. At the age of 7 years he came with his parents of Cedar county, IA, where he resided until 1884 when he moved to Keyapat county, NE where he resided until 1889, when he returned to Cedar county, IA and made his home with his sister, Mrs Mary Whitmer, at whose home he passed away August 26, 1920. With the tender care of his sister, a care that but few can give, he lived to the ripe age of 73 years, 10 months, and 16 days. He was a man of noble character and at an early age he gave himself to his master and joined the Presbyterian church at Sugar Creek of which he was Sunday school superintendent. He was a faithful attendant at the church services until his disabilities would not permit. He taught school for a short time, was township assessor and justice of the peace for a number of years. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs Mary Whitmer of Wilton, IA and Mrs Sarah McCool of Indianola, NE. A number of nephews and nieces and a host of friends. May there be a happy reunion in heaven. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at Sugar Creek Presbyterian church. In the absence of the pastor, the Rev Jacob Wirth conducted the services. Burial was made in the Whitmer cemetery.
