Hendricks of Owasa, formerly of Coon Rapids, were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Coder's funeral home under the direction of the Rev. Dewey Lamprecht of Owasa. Mr. Hendricks died Friday at the University Hospital in Iowa City. Pallbearers were Dale Ridgeway, Donald Ridgeway, Harold Scott, Leslie Miner, James McQueen and George McQueen. Mr. Hendricks died Friday at the University Hospital in Iowa City. Pallbearers were Dale Ridgeway, Donald Ridgeway, Harold Scott, Leslie Miner, James McQueen and George McQueen. Special music was furnished by a vocal quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Kretzinger, Miss Madge Anderson and George Textor. Mrs. Roswell Jordan accompanied them at the piano. The Rev. J. H. Krenmyre, pastor of the local Methodist church, assisted with the services and Mrs. J. Thos. Rogers was at the organ. Interment was made in the Coon Rapids cemetery. Charles B. Hendricks, son of D. W. and Martha Hendricks, was born at Prairie City, Iowa, August 2, 1871 and departed this life October 20, 1939 at the University of Iowa hospital in Iowa City following an orthopedic operation. He was 68. Mr. Hendricks moved with his parents to Audubon county in 1880 where he grew to manhood and married Mrs. Emma Taylor October 19, 1910 He started in the mercantile business in Viola Center Iowa in 1900 and later came to Coon Rapids where he conducted a grocery business for several years. Mr. and Mrs. Hendricks changed their residence to South Dakota where they spent a number of years improving real estate and engaging in the mercantile business. Returning to Iowa in 1936 they lived for a short time in Coon Rapids before moving to Owasa. At the time of his death, Mr. Hendricks was engaged in the grocery business. When a young man, Mr. Hendricks united with the Evangelical church, later joining the Methodist church, where he was a faithful attendant when health permitted. "C. B." as he was known to his many friends, was a man of high character and great friendship. Associations with him, whether business or social, were always pleasing. His companion, Emma; one sister, Mrs. C. A. Yager of Coon Rapids; two brothers, W. H. Hendricks of Coon Rapids and Ed Hendricks of Sandstone, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews have the sympathy of their many friends. One sister, Mrs. Ed Ridgeway, preceded him in death in 1934. Out of town friends and relatives at the services were the Rev. and Mrs. Dewey Lamprecht, Mrs. Henry Steilow, Mrs. Ord Ridout of Owasa; Joseph Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. John Hughs, Mrs Beatrice Young, Mrs. Ruby, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mooman, Oliver, Joe and Lee Taylor, all of Prairie City.
