Description	:	Barbara Ann Ridenour Barb passed away peacefully on July 22, 2005, after a long illness. Barbara was born June 23, 1931, in Long Beach, California. She grew up in Southern California where she met the love of her life, Charles Ridenour. They married in 1948 and moved to Humboldt County in 1951 where they made their home and raised their family. Barbara has blessed many people throughout her life with her compassion and her true love of people. Read More	Barbara Ann Ridenour Barb passed away peacefully on July 22, 2005, after a long illness. Barbara was born June 23, 1931, in Long Beach, California. She grew up in Southern California where she met the love of her life, Charles Ridenour. They married in 1948 and moved to Humboldt County in 1951 where they made their home and raised their family. Barbara has blessed many people throughout her life with her compassion and her true love of people. Barb has taken many people into her home that eventually became family, and the outcome of her generosity was evident in her last hours of life. Barb was the heart and soul behind the man known as “the Sequoia gas man” who drove for them for 43 years and became a mother figure to all of the McWhorter family. Her stubbornness and “worry-wart” nature will be remembered by all those who knew her. She made it her mission to feed anyone who stopped by her kitchen and made sure they left with a supply of home canned goods. Her passion in life was gambling. She, along with friends and family members, often frequented Las Vegas, Reno and most recently the local casinos. The thought of a trip to the casino often perked her up from feeling horrible to putting a sparkle in her eye and a spring in her step. Barb was preceded in death by her husband Charles in April 2003. She is survived by her three children, Susan Russell and her husband Doug of Hydesville, Karen Dunham and her husband Wayne of Rio Dell, and Mike Ridenour and his wife Sherry of Rio Dell; sister, Nancy Lennon of Danville, California. Barbara has been blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Grandchildren, Michael (& Dottie) Ridenour, Scott Strong, Jody (& Ariana) Strong, Lori Weldon, Rob Dunham, Doug Russell, Stefan Ridenour. Great grandchildren, Jayson and Sean Strong, Noah Charles Strong and Douglas Brent Russell. Friends are invited to attend graveside memorial services Friday, July 29, 2005, at 1:00 P.M. at Sunrise Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Goble’s Fortuna Mortuary.
