Read More	Barbara Elizabeth Mosher (Dolliver) passed away at home on Thursday, March 12, 2015 in her 91st year, with her family by her side. Predeceased by her husband Douglas, and her brothers Arthur and Donald (Mac), Barbara is survived by her children John (Judy Estey), Elizabeth (Stephen Dauphinee), and Jim; her grandsons Adam Roy (Sarah Atkinson) and Graham Roy (Janet Wells), and her great-grandsons Brayden Douglas and William Joseph. She is also survived by sister-in-law Betty Dolliver of Bridgewater, niece Denise and nephew Shawn, and the Wilkie and MacDonald relatives still remaining. Born on April 22, 1924, in Bridgewater, NS, she was the daughter of Charlotte (MacDonald) and George F. Dolliver. She graduated from Bridgewater High School and went on to become a secretary at Steel and Engine Products in Liverpool, while Doug was at sea with the Merchant Marines. They were married in 1947 and together set off on their life adventures. In 1956 they became the owners of their first scallop dragger, the Barbara Jo, and in 1962 they began building Scotia Trawler, a successful scallop harvesting and ship supply company in the heart of Lunenburg. Family was important to Barbara and being a mother to her children became her first priority. She and Doug raised their family in Lunenburg, supporting them in their schooling, sports and interests. The family enjoyed their summer vacations starting at Sunny Brook and then moving to Herman's Island where they finally settled. She loved to entertain their friends at their home. She and Doug became very involved in the Lunenburg Yacht Club and were instrumental in developing the Junior Sailing Program. Once Doug became seriously involved in sailboat racing, she happily accompanied him to many ports as part of the 'land crew' with one of her favourite places being Marblehead. They took great joy in their children and their friends, never turning any friend away who needed a meal or a bed. Later on in life with the addition of grandsons who also sailed and played hockey, they could be found in a yacht club or hockey rink anywhere within the Maritimes supporting them. They made new friends and appreciated their friendship in return. In their later years, they enjoyed travelling to Europe, especially Portugal. Barbara continued to travel with friends up until the last years of her life. They loved life and each other, and when Doug passed away, a bit of Barbara went with him. Barbara had the gift of giving. She was an avid volunteer in the community; an active member of the UCW and Past President of the Margaret R Unit at Central United Church; Director of the Lunenburg Marine Museum Society, member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital and a member and Regent of the Lunenburg Chapter of the IODE. Her life long devotion was to Girl Guides of Canada. From a Brownie she remained in the organization as an active member up to recent years. Barbara was a firm believer in giving back to the community and was ever so proud to see her children carry on this tradition. A special thank you goes out to the many girls that have been with Mom over the past years and cared for her so well. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy #3, Lunenburg. No visitation by request. A service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held at Central United Church on Thursday April 9th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Capt.
