Bishop, J. E. Dickerson, A. G. Mortimer and E. E. Schmitter. Burial was in the Gypsum cemetery. Mrs. Snyder had lived in Saline county over 60 years, most of them in the Gypsum community. Failing in health the last few years, she had been confined to her bed for many months preceding her death. Among the out-of-town people who were here for the funeral services were the two sons. F. J. Snyder, Tulsa, Okla., and Joe Snyder and Mrs. Snyder, Salina; a grandson, Hermann Winkler, Spring Hill; Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Sullivan, Salina; Mrs. Arthur Jay, Salina; Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Jay, Kipp; Mrs. Myrtle Hall, Denver, Colo. The following obituary was read at the funeral services: Barbara Ellen Buzzard was born at Bangor, Penn., June 20, 1858, and died at the home of her daughter in Gypsum, Kans., January 2, 1940, at the age of 81 years, six months and 13 days. She came with her parents to Kansas in 1878. They settled nine miles south of Salina, where she lived until the time of her marriage. She was married to Edward D. Snyder at New Cambria, Kansas, April 19, 1883. They made their home in Salina for two years after which they moved to a farm near Gypsum. Later they moved to Gypsum where she lived until her death. She was the proud mother of seven children: Mrs. Sadie Underwood, Mrs. Cora Winkler, Mrs. Laura Bogart, Mrs. Angie Pettle all of Gypsum; Frank Snyder of Tulsa, Okla.; and Joe Snyder of Salina. She was preceded in death by her husband and one infant daughter. Mrs. Snyder was a devoted Christian, a member of the Methodist church of Gypsum. She lived a life of loving service to all those who needed her help. She was uncomplaining in affliction, always submissive to the will of her Lord and Master. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Gypsum. Besides her children, she leaves to mourn her death one brother, S. H. Buzzard of McAllen, Texas; twenty grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many neighbors and friends.
