LONTZ Mrs. Lontz, wife of David Lontz, passed away Sunday morning, near Richmond, after an illness of many months. Mrs. Lontz's affliction was the result of a stroke of paralysis. A few days before her death she was taken seriously ill of pneumonia, and grew rapidly worse until the end. The remains were brought here Monday and taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Oliver Ulrich, where they lay in state until Tuesday afternoon, when funeral services were conducted at the M.E. church by Rev. W. W. Brown, of the local M. E. church, who based his remarks upon language found in the 21st chapter of Revelations, 'There is no Night There.' Mrs. Nellie Life, Miss Hazel Knapp, Miss Leona Brown and Messrs. James Knapp and Jesse Replogle sang, 'Nearer, Still Nearer,' 'I'm Sheltered in Thee' and 'Some Blessed Day.' The pallbearers were Samuel Doerstler, Edwin Stamm, Charles Forkner, Willard Heinery, Abram Hoover and William League. The interment was made in the Brick church cemetery. Mrs. Lontz was the mother of Herley Lontz and Mrs. Ethel Ulrich, of this place, Curtis Lontz, of New Castle and Mrs. Mable Ulrich, of Richmond. She was a woman of many beautiful traits of character, and had many warm and true friends. The following obituary was read at the funeral services: OBITUARY Barbara Ellen Lontz, daughter of George and Susannah Crull, was born January 10, 1843, and departed this life April 25, 1909, aged 66 years, 3 months and 15 days. On October 31st, 1867, she was united in marriage to David M. Lontz. To them, seven children were born, four daughters and three sons, two of whom have preceeded her in death--a son and a daughter dying in infancy. She leaves a bereaved husband, one brother, two sons, three daughters and six grandchildren to mourn her loss. She united with the Methodist Episcopal church in January, 1897, and continued during her life of activity a faithful member. the last two years of her life were full of affliction, but through the cloud the strong mind and finer qualities of womanhood could be seen. She was a kind, self-sacrificing mother, giving ungrudgingly her life for her family. Today as the husband and children gather to perform the last act of love and reverence in the presence of the mother, the hearts are very, very sad, but a great thankfulness fills them because they had such a mother. Mother has gone but her going is out of the clouds and veiled darkness into clear visitation and blessed sunlight of her Heavenly Father's Home."
