Leona (Foor) Schneider of Wapello, Barbara was born May 1st, 1930 in rural Wapello. She was a 1947 graduate of Wapello High School. On February 20th, 1949 she married Dick M. Sands. He preceded her in death on December 21, 2008. She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church of Morning Sun, the American Legion Auxiliary and charter member of the Morning Sun Lioness Club. The daughter of Carl and H. Leona (Foor) Schneider of Wapello, Barbara was born May 1st, 1930 in rural Wapello. She was a 1947 graduate of Wapello High School. On February 20th, 1949 she married Dick M. Sands. He preceded her in death on December 21, 2008. She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church of Morning Sun, the American Legion Auxiliary and charter member of the Morning Sun Lioness Club. Barbara raised four children and enjoyed driving a school bus for the Morning Sun School District. She was a Scout leader and Sunday School teacher for many years. She also enjoyed golfing, crocheting and playing cards. She loved attending activities for her grandchildren and spending time with her great-grandchildren. Barbara was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed many visits to Busch Stadium to cheer on her favorite team. A highlight was attending a World Series game. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Danny; son-in-law, Fran; her parents; three sisters, Betty Gerst, Jeanne Strawhacker and Evelyn Petersen and four brothers, Daniel “Pete”, Phil, Doug and Mike Schneider.
