Description	:	The State, Jan 23, 1913 Mrs Barbara Thompson Blacksburg, Jan 22, 1913-- Mrs Barbara Thompson died at her residence, the Thompson house, this morning at 8:20 o'clock. Apparently in her usual health yesterday afternoon, she was suddenly seized about 1 o'clock with a stroke of paralysis and soon became unconscious, in which condition she remained until the end came. About three years ago Mrs Thompson had a slight stroke of paralysis from which she rallied, but her health has impaired to some extent ever since and while the last fatal stroke was not unexpected, it came as a great shock to her... Apparently in her usual health yesterday afternoon, she was suddenly seized about 1 o'clock with a stroke of paralysis and soon became unconscious, in which condition she remained until the end came. About three years ago Mrs Thompson had a slight stroke of paralysis from which she rallied, but her health has impaired to some extent ever since and while the last fatal stroke was not unexpected, it came as a great shock to her many friends in Blacksburg and elsewhere. Mrs Thompson was 58 years of age and was born iin Rutherford county, North Carolina, being the eldest child of John W Carlton, a Confederate veteran, who moved to this section in 1871. Her mother, Mrs J C Carlton, died about a year and a half ago. Mrs Thompson was married in 1877 to Julius W Thompson, who died `14 years ago, and she is survived by the following children: Miss Lucy Thompson of this place and Messrs Julius and Richard Thompson of Birmingham, Ala, and also two brothers, S C Carlton of this place ad A G Carlton of Atlanta and one sister, Mrs Lyttle of Asheville, NC. For many years Mrs Thompson has been a consistent and devoted member of the Methodist Church. She was a kind, helpful neighbor, a sympathetic friend to all who were in trouble. Her remains will be interred tomorrow in the cemetery of the Baptist church, beside those of her husband.
