Description	:	Daughter of Robert Foster who died 23 MAY 1873. Exerpt taken from the 31 JAN 1930 Crescent City American Obituary: "Barbara Foster was born in Jackson County, Oregon* on March 28, 1848. She was married to James Hight in Jackson County on January 15, 1868, and came to Del Norte County in the early 70's. To this union were born eleven children, five daughters and six sons, sll of whom are living and in attendance at the funeral....... Mrs. Hight had been in failing health for some time and although she suffered a great deal at times she always had a cheery... Read More	Daughter of Robert Foster who died 23 MAY 1873. She was married to James Hight in Jackson County on January 15, 1868, and came to Del Norte County in the early 70's. Mrs. Hight had been in failing health for some time and although she suffered a great deal at times she always had a cheery word for the members of the family and those who were constantly with her during the months of illness. Not only did the large attendance mark the respect with which she was held in the community shere she had lived for so many years, but the floral offerings were evidence of the love and sympathy of the community. Whe was a crowning example of motherhood, devoting her heart and soul to her children and home. Children surviving the mother are Jesse B., John H., James, Fred F., Clarence E. and George W. Hight, all of Smith River, Mrs. Nettie Solomon of Eureka, CA., Mrs. Rose McGrew of North Bend, OR., Mrs. Daisy DeLear of San Francisco, Mrs. Alice Morris of Portland, OR and Miss Myrtle Hight of Smith River. Other relatives include one sister, Mrs. Clara Ham of Smith River and two brothers, John Foster, Smith River, and Sam Foster of Harbor, OR. She also leaves 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren besides other family connections." *Barbara Foster was born in Marion County, OR where the city of Salem now stands. Besides the children listed below, there were also Nettie Ann Hight (1873-1933) and Mary Alice Hight (1887-1955).
