Description	:	Mrs. Barbara Gibson Marshall was born near Glasgow, Lanark shire, Scotland, December 8, 1833 and died in Bonaparte, Iowa, July 1, 1917, at the age of eighty-three years, six months and one day. She was the second daughter of a family of nine children, all of whom have passed on with the exception of the eldest sister, Mrs. Jean Fairgrieve of Mossend, Scotland. She was united in marriage with Mr. Thomas Marshall of Glengarock, Scotland on April 2, 1857. To this union were born five daughters, one dying at the age of three years. Read More	Mrs. Barbara Gibson Marshall was born near Glasgow, Lanark shire, Scotland, December 8, 1833 and died in Bonaparte, Iowa, July 1, 1917, at the age of eighty-three years, six months and one day. She was the second daughter of a family of nine children, all of whom have passed on with the exception of the eldest sister, Mrs. Jean Fairgrieve of Mossend, Scotland. She was united in marriage with Mr. Thomas Marshall of Glengarock, Scotland on April 2, 1857. To this union were born five daughters, one dying at the age of three years. They came to America in the fall of 1860 and located at Trenton, N.J. Her husband preceded her in death November 19, 1875, being buried in Kansas City, Missouri. After residing in several places, she came to Bonaparte in 1891 where she remained until the time of her death. She became a member of the Presbyterian church of Scotland during young womanhood, thus verifying her faith in Christ which she maintained until the end. Mrs. Marshall was a very devoted mother to her children, a woman of sincerity to her friends and a character from which there shone the beauty of gentleness. Her smile and loving companionship will be missed, but having run her race with patience she has at last gained her reward. She leaves to mourn their loss four daughters; Mrs. Marion Blackburn, Mrs. Daniel Cresap and Mrs. Kirk Meek of Bonaparte, Iowa and Mrs. John Middleton of Ottumwa, Iowa; also five grandchildren and five great-grandsons, all of whom we commend to the keeping of a loving God during this hour of grief. Funeral services were held at the K.L. Meek home on Thursday afternoon with Rev. D. Mason of the Presbyterian church officiating. Interment in the Bonaparte cemetery.
