(Doane) Hart, 73, died June 5 from complications associated with diabetes. She was a native of West Chatham, the daughter of Oscar W. Doane, Sr., and Katherine F. (Ryder) Doane, and the sister of the late Oscar W. Doane Jr., of West Chatham. She was a descendent of Deacon John Doane, who emigrated from England around 1630 and was a Deacon of the church and assistant to the Governor of the Plymouth Colony. She was a member of the Chatham High School Class of 1949, and later took art classes at the Oakland County Community College in Orchard Lake, Mich. Divorced from Francis X. Hart, originally from Hyannis, to whom she was married for over 30 years, she raised their three children in Oak Park and Lathrup Village, Mich. Later, she moved to Alexandria, Va., to live near two of her children and help care for her grandson. She was a skilled rug hooking artist, who occasionally created rug designs and taught the craft to others, as her mother had done. She also enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, reading, and spending time with her family, and she was a life-long Red Sox fan. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and in her later years especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered by her children and others for her generosity, cheerfulness, and sense of humor, for the joy she brought to her life and others, and for the selflessness and grace she exhibited in the face of great personal challenges. Survivors include two sons: Richard of Alexandria and Tom of Brighton, Mich.; a daughter, Kathy of Alexandria; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and three nieces and one nephew, three of which live in West Chatham. A funeral mass was held in Alexandria on June 10, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Community.
