Description	:	Barbara Isabell Andrews was born in Chicago Illinois in 1918, and left us in her 100th year on May 21, 2018. Barbara and her family left Chicago and worked their way to California where she has been a resident of Eureka for 90 years. After her mother died when she was 14, she got a job as a seamstress and cared for her father and brothers. She met Harrison "Pinky" Andrews, a logger from Sanger, California. Read More	Barbara Isabell Andrews was born in Chicago Illinois in 1918, and left us in her 100th year on May 21, 2018. Barbara and her family left Chicago and worked their way to California where she has been a resident of Eureka for 90 years. After her mother died when she was 14, she got a job as a seamstress and cared for her father and brothers. She met Harrison "Pinky" Andrews, a logger from Sanger, California. They married in 1938 and began raising their children while living in Cranell, a logging town. When she was 44 her husband died leaving her without an income and three young children to raise. A true testament to the smart, strong, and determined woman she was, was her ability to stay strong and do what she had to do. She got a job in a cafeteria and did ironing on the side to support her and the children. She eventually started doing Day Care which she loved very much, and forever was known as Gram to many children over the 35 years. She considered them all to be her grandchildren. She was famous for her Macaroni Soup which the children loved and still talk about to this day. Her other passion was bowling! She bowled on a league for 45 years rarely missing a night. She considered her bowling team her family. She was highlighted on a local news for being the eldest bowler at 94, locally. Barbara was an extraordinary woman who lived to be a 100, who was loved by many, who considered no one a stranger and always had a pot of Folgers coffee on for a chat. She is proceeded in death by her parents, John and Nellie Farr, her husband Pinky Andrews, brothers, Jim, John, Ken, Ed and Doug Farr, Grandson, Yarnell Cooper Jr., children, Norman Andrews, Nancy Walker, and Dennis Andrews. She is survived by her children, Kathleen Johnson and Marian Whitten. Grandchildren, Ron Cooper, Michelle Heins, Steven and Jack Wingett, Mark and Darrell Andrews, Kevin, Keith, and Kent Bohlken, Kari Piazza, Joseph Whitten, Brandon Walker, Sandi Whitten Phelps, Scott, Delaina and Thomas Andrews, and Kim Crosgrove. Twenty great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held, Sunday, July 29th. 2 p.m. at the Eureka Elk's Lodge.
