Description	:	Barbara Jean was born, Aug. 14, 1927 in McCool Junction, Neb. to Floyd Morris and Halcyon Florence (Shaw) Wilcox. After graduating from Gering High School in 1945, she moved to Ogden Utah where she was a civil servant, English-Spanish interpreter at Hill Air force Base. She returned to Gering and was married there on Feb. 7, 1948 to Guy Turner Gibb. In 1958, Barbara and Guy adopted Guy’s nephews Clyde Eugene (11), Thomas Alexander (Tommy) (10), and Robert Allen (Al) (5). On April 6, 1962 a son, William Curtis Gibb (Curt) was born to the couple. After graduating from Gering High School in 1945, she moved to Ogden Utah where she was a civil servant, English-Spanish interpreter at Hill Air force Base. She returned to Gering and was married there on Feb. 7, 1948 to Guy Turner Gibb. In 1958, Barbara and Guy adopted Guy’s nephews Clyde Eugene (11), Thomas Alexander (Tommy) (10), and Robert Allen (Al) (5). On April 6, 1962 a son, William Curtis Gibb (Curt) was born to the couple. Barbara went to work as a telephone operator for United Telephone in 1952. She worked her way up to Systems Manager and Consultant to some of the largest accounts in the region. She spent 37 very happy years in the telephone business; all through the sale and merger of the post-United Telephone era. She retired from the phone company in 1989 to help take care of her grandchildren. After the four grandchildren (two sets of twins) were in school, she began working part-time from home. Later she worked for Sykes, Alco and Sun-Mart. Then she be-came employed with Walmart and worked there in the seafood department until summer 2013. She was a longtime member of The Order of Eastern Star. She was initiated into Scotts Bluff Chapter #133 on November 1, 1989. Barbara served as Worthy Matron of Scotts Bluff Chapter #133 in Gering from 1995-2002. She was also a past Grand Representative from Nebraska to the state of South Dakota. She remained a member of Sunflower Chapter #214, Mitchell, until her death. Barbara had many hobbies, including gardening, writing poetry and more. But none was as enjoyable for her as painting wooden ducks and donating them to Ducks Unlimited to auction off as fund raisers. She was extremely skilled and exacting. And many people in several states own her work. She loved Jesus with all her heart and loved helping people in need. She adored her family and enjoyed nothing more than having Sunday dinner with the family sharing stories from the past. She was an avid lover of all God’s animals and always had dogs and cats. It seemed stray animals headed directly for the Gibb home. Barb adopted several animals over the years from the Panhandle Humane Society. And her desire was to have donations in her name be made to that facility upon her death, and in lieu of flowers. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd M. and Halcyon F. Wilcox, two sons, Clyde E. Gibb (Carol), and William C. Gibb (Lynn Prickett), her sister, Lita Ann Smith, her husband of 46 years - Guy T. Gibb and brother-in-law, Gaylin Vernon Gibb. Survivors include her sons, Thomas Alexander Gibb of Scottsbluff and Robert Allen (Patricia) of Deer Lodge Mont.; brother, Robert Shaw Wilcox (Marcia) of Cheyenne Wyo.; sister, Jane Kay Terry of Denver; grandchildren, Quentin Turner Gibb (Samantha) of North Glenn Colo., Valorie May (Val) Fankhauser (Dustin) of Gering, Katelyn Ann (Katy) Gibb or Morrrill, Malinda Elaine (Mindy) Anderson (Mike) of Ft. Hood, Texas, great-grandchildren, Hunter Curtis, Grace Marie and Marissa May Fankhauser, Phoenix Jolee and William Archer Gibb, Thomas James Carter, Hope Lynn and Landon Mikel Anderson and Zachariah (Zach) and Zebedee (Zeb) Gibb along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
