A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Oyens, Iowa. Reverend Bill McCarthy will celebrate the Mass. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Barbara Jean Utesch was born January 28, 1954 in Le Mars, the daughter of Harold “Doc” and Marian (Steichen) Utesch. She was raised in Oyens and attended grade school at St. Catherine’s Catholic School in Oyens. She attended high school in Remsen and graduated from Remsen Union High School. She was united in marriage to Dennis Henrich on January 27, 1973, in Oyens. Barb and Dennis lived on a farm northwest of Le Mars. Early on, Barb was a homemaker for her family and helped on the farm. After her children were grown, she went to work at Wal-Mart in Le Mars as a department manager until retiring due to her health. She was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Oyens. Through the years she enjoyed making crafts, sewing, interior decorating, and refinishing antique furniture. She loved being outdoors, especially working in her flower gardens. But most of all, she loved the times spent with friends and family, especially her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Dennis of Le Mars; a daughter: Kelly (Spencer) Reitzler of Williamsburg, IA, and their children: Levi and Brayden; a son: Tod Henrich of Le Mars; a daughter: Sarah (Christian) Bray of Lawrenceville, GA, and their children: Ava and Evelyn; her siblings: Dave (Fay) Utesch of Chariton, IA, Mike Utesch (significant other, Cathy Schnepf) of Seneca, SC, Kate Utesch of Barberton, OH, Jeff (Michelle) Utesch of Fort Collins, CO, Julie (Mark) Ruba of Remsen, IA, and Doug (Jill) Utesch of Remsen; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her father- and mother-in-law: Ed and Arlyne Henrich; and a nephew: Ryan Utesch.
