She was reared in Birney, Montana by her maternal grandmother, Grace Strange Owl. Barbara cherished their time together, and honored her by carrying on her teachings. Read More	Motse’eoehnehe’e “Sweet Medicine Woman” Taa’eveohtse’e “Walks At Night Woman” Barbara was the daughter of Edward Foote Jr. and Eva Strange Owl. She was reared in Birney, Montana by her maternal grandmother, Grace Strange Owl. Barbara cherished their time together, and honored her by carrying on her teachings. In 1984, Barbara married Otto Braided Hair Jr., and together they reared three children: Vanessa (Aaron) Harris, Jessica (Lawrence) Spang and Otto (Amber) Braided Hair III. She was blessed with three grandsons whom she loved dearly. They were her pride and joy. Barbara worked as a Payroll Specialist for the Northern Cheyenne Tribe for five years before serving twenty years as Branch Manager at First Interstate Bank. She knew early on that her first language, her social skills, and her acumen for business would be key in helping her to help others. She was a pillar in the Cheyenne Community--a humble leader who instilled her best qualities in those she met. Barbara was active in many organizations that helped bring resources and opportunities to her people. She was adept at managing her home and work lives, always putting her Cheyenne way of life first. Barbara was a self-taught singer of great skill, and made singing and dancing a part of her daily life. She learned many traditional songs, and taught them to her children. She took great joy from preparing meals, and especially preparing food for ceremonies and gatherings. She shared her love and blessings through her meals. Barbara loved summers the most, because it was time to gather, especially at Green Leaf. It was the time for travel, as well as catching up with old friends and making new. Her greatest joy was being a "Ke'ee" grandmother. She loved all her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Her special sisters were DeeWanda Littlecoyote, Sara Mathuin, JuDee Anderson, Stella Ortega and sister-in-law Elizabeth Braided Hair. Barbara was preceded in death by her father Edward Foote Sr., Grandmother Grace Strange Owl, Brother Clifford “Sonny” Small and Sister Ilona Foote. Extended families include: Redneck, Littlebird, Elkshoulder, Two Two, Seminole, Nightwalker, Sandcrane, Fisher, Fighting Bear, Tallwhiteman, Clubfoote and Medicine Bull, and many others, too numerous to list but loved. INTERMENT Following the Funeral Service Saturday July 13, 2019 Greenleaf Cemetery Lame Deer, Montana 59043 **Please note that the names of minor children have been omitted for privacy concerns.
