Description	:	Barbara Jean Symonds (Philpot), daughter of Corda and the late Leslie Clark, was born on December 15, 1931 in Osceola, Iowa and passed from this life on May 8, 2012 at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa. Read More	Barbara Jean Symonds (Philpot), daughter of Corda and the late Leslie Clark, was born on December 15, 1931 in Osceola, Iowa and passed from this life on May 8, 2012 at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa. She was 80 years old. Barbara received her education in Osceola and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Southwestern Community College in Creston. She was married to Kenneth Symonds in June 1949 and had one son, Stephen. After the passing of Kenneth in 1981, she married Bill Philpot and resided with Bill in Harlingen, Texas and later at the Lake of the Ozarks until Bill's death in 1995 when she moved back to Osceola where she resided until her death. Barbara was a well-respected nurse working at the Clarke County Hospital, the Nursing Home, and as company nurse at Jimmy Dean in the 1970's. She was a founding member of Eagles Arie Auxiliary 3495 in Osceola and, along with Kenny, enjoyed a lot of evening hours at the club in her earlier years. Barbara cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always looked forward to seeing them. She is survived by her son, Stephen Symonds and wife, Shirley of West Des Moines; mother, Corda Clark; brother, Gerald Clark and wife Lynnette; sister, Virginia Scholl and husband Clarence - all of Osceola; as well as grandchildren, Jenny Symonds, Shanda Fordyce and husband Chris and Stephanie Symonds - all of Des Moines; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Caden, Sophie and Symon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Clark; and husbands, Kenny Symonds and Bill Philpot.
