Barbara died Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Stanton Health Center in Stanton, Nebraska. Barbara Jean Emory was born January 18, 1939, to Bernard and Beatrice (Shacklett) Hoffart at Plainview, Nebraska. She attended rural schools in the Creighton area and graduated as Valedictorian of her class from Creighton High School in 1956. Barbara attended Wayne State College and taught school at District 41 for one year. Barbara married Larry Emory on June 1, 1957. They lived on a farm north of Creighton until moving to Norfolk in 1994. They later divorced. Barbara worked at The Meadows until her retirement. Barbara enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, singing, and playing the organ, and spending time with her family. Barbara is survived by her children, Julie (Steve) Thies of Norfolk, Lori (Larry) King of Fort Collins, Colorado, Cindy (Bill) Borer of Fort Collins, Michael (Carmen) Emory of Pierce, and Gary (Monica) Emory of Norfolk; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Roberta Reese of Creighton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Norman Reese.
