(Toebe) McAlees, 74, Mason City passed away Monday, June 3, 2019 at MercyOne North Iowa Hospice. Barbara Jean Lee was born May 11, 1945 in Charles City, the daughter of Floyd and Beryl (Healey) Lee. She attended Nashua Plainfield High School. Barbara married Dale Toebe in 1961 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She worked at home on the family farm with Dale and his parents. The couple was blessed with two children, DeAnne and Brad. Barbara worked in many manufacturing jobs in the Mason City and surrounding area including, Mode O’Day, EF Johnson, Metalcraft, and Schneider Metal/IMI Cornelius. Through her life, Barbara worked two jobs for many years, including bartending where she made many friends. Life then took Barbara to Florida where she remarried and worked at Habitat for Humanity for several years, later retiring. In 2012 Barbara moved back to Iowa to be closer to her grandkids, family, and numerous friends. Barbara enjoyed attending all her grandchildrens’ ballgames. She could be found reading the paper, playing games, crocheting, doing crossword puzzles, and watching TV. Through her life Barbara had numerous animals that she adored. Each week she looked forward to her Monday Morning Coffee with her two children. She was blessed with two lifelong friends, time together with them was very precious to her. Her friends and family were the light of her life. Barbara was a strong-willed worker who always put her children before herself. For many years she provided for her family diligently. Left to cherish Barbara’s life include her children, DeAnne Rinnels of Mason City and Brad (Gayla) Toebe of Mason City; grandchildren, Lacy Briggs, Libby Rinnels, Mandy Toebe, Tyler Toebe, and Carson Toebe; a great-grandson, Jaxon Rinnels; her lifelong friends, Mary Schomaker and Mary Lou Raymer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Beryl Lee; her three brothers, Gary, James “Jim”, Robert “Bobby”; and her son-in-law, Kevin Rinnels.
