Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Barbara Jo joined her heavenly Father, surrounded by family on Monday, March 27, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Barbara Anderson was born in Redfield, SD on May 11, 1960, to Paul and Diana (Kost) Anderson. Barb and her sister, Paula, grew up on the farm alongside aunts, uncles and cousins. Barb graduated from Tulare High School in 1978 and went on to Northern State University, where she graduated in 1982 with a teaching degree. She met the love of her life, Dean, at NSU and they were married on August 18, 1990 in Aberdeen. Her passion was leading and inspiring youth. She devoted herself to teaching and Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. Barb was very active in the church and was part of many Bible studies and prayer groups. She truly had a servant’s heart and was always putting others first. Dean and Barb had four wonderful children who she dedicated her life to raising into mature, responsible young adults with bright futures ahead of them. She was able to spend her last days with her family attending ballgames, graduations, and supporting them through everything. She was blessed to always be surrounded by friends and family. Grateful for having shared Barb’s life are her husband, Dean; her children: Michele (fiancé, Mitchell Hoellein), Rachel, Michael, and Laurie; her sister: Paula Anderson (husband, Todd Witten), of Phoenix, AZ; as well as a loving group of extended family members. Preceding Barb in death are her parents, Paul and Diana.
