Description	:	Barbara Joy Campbell, age 82, passed away on July 3, 2014, after a quick battle with cancer surrounded by her family. She was a much loved mother, grandmother, wife, teacher and friend. Joy was born March 4, 1932, in Lodge Grass, Mont., where she spent most of her younger life with her sister Lorraine Pattyn. She received her K through 8th grade teaching degree from Eastern Montana College and began her teaching career in Portland, Ore., following her friend from college. Read More	Barbara Joy Campbell, age 82, passed away on July 3, 2014, after a quick battle with cancer surrounded by her family. She was a much loved mother, grandmother, wife, teacher and friend. Joy was born March 4, 1932, in Lodge Grass, Mont., where she spent most of her younger life with her sister Lorraine Pattyn. She received her K through 8th grade teaching degree from Eastern Montana College and began her teaching career in Portland, Ore., following her friend from college. This is where she met her friend's cousin, Harold (Slim) Campbell whom became her husband of 58 years on Dec. 27, 1955. Joy and Slim settled in Columbus where she taught school for 29 years touching the lives of many students making sure they were well educated in math and English. Her love was junior high students. Joy retired from teaching but not from the work force. In retirement she became the county superintendent of schools for Stillwater County for twelve years, finally retiring for good. Upon retirement, Slim and Joy's pride and joy was their Goldwing motorcycle that they traveled to many locations camped at Goldwing rallies and meet new friends that they kept in contact with throughout the country. Slim preceded her in death last year which was a great loss to her and her family. Barbara Joy Campbell is survived by her son Chris (Sandi) Campbell and their children Lee Campbell, Becki (Stephen) Mayo and Cayla Campbell; and her daughter Francie (Bob) and their children Kristi Fisher, Amy Fisher and Kimberly Fisher (Craig Hendrix); and sister Lorraine Pattyn and brother-in-law Francis (Sharon) Campbell. Mom, Grandma will be greatly missed by all that loved her. Services will be held, 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at the Whitebird Community School House, six miles south on Whitebird Creek Road, Columbus, Mont. The family suggests memorial donations to the Whitebird Community School House or a charity of choice. One year, one month and one day from when Slim passed away you could not stay away. We will miss you Joy but you are with your true love again and both of you are in GOD's embrace. Joy, Grandma, be at peace now knowing we will always keep you in our hearts.
