She was raised on the family farm north of Tekamah and graduated from Tekamah High School in 1944. Read More	Barbara June "Barb" (Kelly) Hancock, 90 November 22, 1926 ~ November 21, 2017 Barbara was born to Clarence and Edith (Bucy) Kelly on November 22, 1926 in Tekamah, Nebraska. She was raised on the family farm north of Tekamah and graduated from Tekamah High School in 1944. She worked briefly for an Omaha insurance company following graduation and was married to Leonard Hancock on August 10, 1949. Together they raised three children: Marty, Nancy, and Russ. During the early years the family moved frequently including time in Nebraska, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and multiple locations throughout Alaska including some very remote villages. Throughout their travels Barb kept a focus on her children and instilled in them a strong sense of family, love and tolerance. Following Leonard’s retirement, the family returned to Tekamah in 1972 and over the years Grandma Hancock’s house became the focal point for Summer reunions and Fourth of July celebrations! Barbara J. Hancock, 90 years, of Tekamah, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Clarence “Curly” Kelly, Jr.; husband, Leonard. Left with memories are son, Marty (Sue) Hancock of Green Bay, WI; daughter, Nancy (Carl) Nelson of Anchorage, AK; son, Russ (Kristy) Hancock of Blair, NE; sister, Gay White of Tekamah; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous friends and family. Visitation will be 4-6 pm Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017 at Pelan Funeral Home, 1103 J Street, Tekamah, Nebraska, with family receiving friends. The funeral will be 10:30 Monday, Nov. 26 at the United Methodist Church, 1408 L Street, Tekamah, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Tekamah Cemetery.
